Republican party candidate claims authorities lied while stating about defending CSTO secretary general post
The charges against former CSTO secretary general Yuri Khachaturov was a regular political step, former director of the NSS, Republican party candidate Davit Shahnazaryan told the reporters today.
“All the claims that Armenia will defend the post of the CSTO secretary general were lies as the recent statement about postponement of the discussion of the issue shows that either Belarus representative or the acting deputy will replace him,” he said.
Speaking about the OSCE Minsk Group format of Karabakh conflict negotiations, Shahnazaryan said that after the four-day April war Vienna, St. Petersburg and Geneva agendas were on the table of negotiations which intended measures for weakening the escalation on the Line of Contact.
“When on June 13 the co-chairs visited Armenia, there was not a word about it in their statements. The loss of such agenda is a very serious, inevitable loss for the Armenian parties,” he said.
