Aliyev attacks from opposite side, Pashinyan attacks Armenia and Artsakh authorities from this side: Davit Shahnazaryan

Peace is not beneficial for Azerbaijan, Republican party candidate Davit Shahnazaryan told the reporters today.

“In diplomacy if an enemy proposes something beneficial to you, it means it is a big trap,” he said.

Shahnazaryan reminded acting defense minister Davit Tonoyan’s words that Azerbaijan has become more constructive after the establishment of operative communication.

“On the same day and the days after it, the Azerbaijani president came up with strictly unacceptable statements that not only Karabakh is part of Azerbaijan but Armenia as well and that it is necessary to leave the occupied territories. Where is constructiveness here?” Shahnazaryan said.

As to what happened on the border with Nakhijevan and in the Line of Contact between Artsakh and Azerbaijan, Shahnazaryan said, “Starting from May Azerbaijan has moved forward its positions in Nakhijevan. First it was told that it happened in their territory, then after being explained that there is no border, that during the Soviet Union no border lining was carried out between Armenia and Azerbaijan the Defense Ministry stated that the changes of positions took place in the neutral zone,” Shahnazaryan said, adding that there is no neutral zone, there is intermediate territory.

“This territory has been significantly cut from May. In September Azerbaijan expanded the territories in Nakhijevan,” he said, claiming that after the meeting in Dushanbe the forwarded posts were ensured with roads to ensure the vitality of these posts.

“These is the real arrangement reached in Dushanbe,” the former director of the NSS said.

Davit Shahnazaryan also stated that the Azerbaijani side is building hills on the Line of Contact with Artsakh since May for both defense and attack.

“Our policy does not intend attack while Azerbaijan who is speaking day and night about starting war will use this hills for attacks,” Shahnazaryan said.

“Aliyev started attack from the opposite side, Nikol Pashinyan has started attack on Armenia and Artsakh leadership from this side. I am already of an opinion that it is not a result of inexperience but a policy for which certain forces brought Pashinyan to power,” he said.
