Narrow, personal interests behind Kocharyan’s arrest: defense team
The Court of Appeal has rejected the complaints and petitions of the attorneys of Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan, leaving the decision of judge “Hrach-Vache” in force, head of second president’s office Viktor Soghomonyan said at a news conference after the publication of court’s decision. “Hrach” is the name mentioned in the wiretapped conversation between NSS director and SIS chief.
Soghomonyan said that the decision to arrest Kocharyan is agreed with narrow, personal interests.
He described the criminal case, the “personal vendetta mania,” “household discussions” in the wiretapped conversations as a “shame,” and stressed that he has no doubts that Robert Kocharyan will appear in freedom.
“He has a lot to do both for Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh. The time will pass and everything will fall in its place,” Soghomonyan said.
