Armenia’s second president states about continuing political fight from jail
The attorney team of the Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan presented during the news conference today the statement of the second president addressed to people.
Applying to compatriots, Kocharyan says that the expected decision of the court is nothing but a political decision.
In his statement the second president described it as “nothing but personal vendetta against me and my family which has been proved by the wiretapped conversations as well.”
“The path I passed, the results I registered during presidency, my image in Armenia, Artsakh and abroad as well as my political prospects do not allow today’s populist, unskilled leader stay calm. Besides, it is clear that the main organizer of mass unrest that resulted in human deaths on March 1 is trying to clean himself from blood and recognize me as a person guilty in them,” he stated, adding that he is convinced that sooner or later he will appear in freedom and prove his innocence.
“I am convinced that all the authors of these illegal and impudent persecution against a person who headed the country during the most hard days in the history of Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia will be held accountable before law and it will be in near future,” he wrote in the statement, adding that he is full of readiness to continue political fight from jail as well.
“Let the authorities and their sponsors not tie vain hopes that they can break my will. I am used to hard trials and consider what happens now as a regular trial. It is a regular episode of my life which I am forced to dedicate to fight – fight for freedom and dignity,” he stated.
