Silence day ahead of early parliamentary elections in Armenia
December 8 is the day of silence ahead of December 9 early parliamentary elections in Armenia. Today the campaign by the political forces is banned.
Eleven forces are participating in the elections – nine parties and two blocs.
Some 2,010 polling stations will operate in 13 electoral constituencies of Armenia.
The number of eligible voters is 2,574,916. Seventy local and 32 international mass media have accredited for covering the early elections.
Observers from 22 local NGOs as well as international organizations, including the European Parliament, OSCE/ODIHR, PACE, CIS observing mission, CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, OSCE PA, European Parliament, SILBA (Initiative for Dialogue and Democracy) and ENEMO (European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations) will observe the elections.
For passing to parliament parties must get at least 5% and blocs 7% of votes.
