Early parliamentary elections kick off in Armenia
Early parliamentary elections have kicked off in Armenia today. All the 2,010 polling stations in 13 electoral districts opened from 8 a.m.
Eleven political forces – 9 parties and 2 blocs – are participating in the elections.
The participating forces are – My Step and We blocs, National Progress, Prosperous Armenia, Bright Armenia, Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun, Republican, Sasna Tsrer, Citizen’s Decision social-democratic, Christian People’s Revival and Orinats Yerkir [Rule of Law] parties.
A total of 2,575,939 voters have been registered to take part in the election. Seventy local and 32 international mass media have accredited for covering the early elections.
Observers from 22 local NGOs as well as international organizations, including the European Parliament, OSCE/ODIHR, PACE, CIS observing mission, CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, OSCE PA, European Parliament, SILBA (Initiative for Dialogue and Democracy) and ENEMO (European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations) will monitor the elections.
The election threshold is set 5% for parties and 7% for blocs.
