Armenia’s Criminal Code has no article on political vendetta, Kocharyan charged with concrete articles: NSS director
There is no article of political vendetta in the Criminal Code, there are concrete articles with which Robert Kocharyan is charged with, NSS director Artur Vanetsyan told the reporters after voting today.
“The investigative body has filed charges, everything will be clear in the court,” Vanetsyan said.
As to the second part of the wiretapped conversation with his participation, Vanetsyan said that it has been mounted with the parts not favorable for the masterminds being cut.
Vanetsyan stressed that in the conversation the PM told him to ensure the independence of the court so that no one is able to put pressures on it.
“I am not the one to orient the outcome of the judicial process. I do not know who will be arrested, I know that a judicial process takes place which will result in certain decision,” he stressed, adding that he has not said anything to be ashamed of.
As to whether there is a national security issue if the NSS director and country’s leader are being wiretapped, Vanetsyan said, “Wiretapping of phone conversations does not mean there is a threat to the national security. Merkel has been wiretapped too, China’s leader as well.”
As to the masterminds, NSS director said that he wants the case to be revealed. “If you think I do not want it to be revealed, I will tell you that in this world I am the one to want it be revealed,” he said.
