ANC congratulates My Step bloc, enumerates challenges new authorities face

Armenian National Congress has congratulated My Step bloc and its leader Nikol Pashinyan on the convincing victory in the early parliamentary elections on December 9.

“It is more important that the Kocharyan-Serzh dictatorship has finally collapsed via conduction of fully free and democratic elections,” the statement says, adding that undoubtedly the chief achievement of the people is that they have become the core role players of political processes.

“Everything just starts. The conduction of free and fair elections was a necessary but not satisfactory condition for Armenia’s development and democratization. The new authorities are facing serious challenges of ensuring Armenia’s and Artsakh’s security, eradicating corruption, establishment of justice, developing economy, empowering civil society institutions, adopting new tax and electoral legislation,” the statement says, adding that the ANC will do everything depending on it to support in the implementation of revolution’s goals and overcoming the mentioned challenges.
