Criminal case filed against former deputy transport and communication minister
Days ago Investigative Committee stated about filing criminal case on abuses in South Caucasian Railway company which involves a high ranking official from Armenia’s Transport, Communication and IT ministry.
Aysor.am reports that it is being spoken about former deputy transport and communication minister Artur Arakelyan.
Arakelyan was appointed in the post in 2013 and on May 30, 2017 was dismissed from the post with the decree of former PM Karen Karapetyan.
The Investigative Committee reported that Arakelyan, stemming from group interests, failed to report to law enforcement bodies about abuses and embezzlements in South Caucasian Railway company revealed as a result of audit, including the failure to implement commitments envisaged by a contract.
As a result embezzlements worth 428 million AMD were registered, no steps were undertaken to eliminate the registered financial abuses.
After the involvement of high ranking official was revealed in the process a new criminal case has been filed on abuse of official power that caused harsh consequences.
