2019-2022 anti-corruption strategy discussed, goals mentioned
Civil society organizations in Armenia have worked out 2019-2022 anti-corruption strategy which will soon be adopted by the Armenian government.
Karen Zadoyan, coordinator of anti-corruption coalition secretariat of the organizations, said at a discussion conducted today that discussions with the participation of representatives of different organizations and state officials are ongoing over the project.
“We have asked the Justice Ministry and the Prime Minister to delay the adoption of the strategy for two months for organization of a proper wide discussion of the strategy for its final variant,” Zadoyan said.
Acting deputy justice minister Suren Krmoyan said that the project is first being discussed with the representatives of civil organizations and only then will be sent to all corresponding bodies.
Krmoyan said that the presented strategy is innovative and digital tools are being applied. He described the issues forwarded by it as ‘ambitious’ and said they are planning to improve Armenia’s position in Transparency International report by 15 points.
“If we do it, it will mean that our country will rise on a new level and leave the circle of systematic corruption. We think it is a realistic goal,” Krmoyan said.
