Ministry of Culture declares strike against optimization
Armenia’s Ministry of Culture has declared a strike from December 21, Aysor.am has learnt from employee Gurgen Alekyan’s Facebook post.
“The employees of the ministry are against the optimization and will gather in front of the building of the ministry on December 21 as a sign of protest and declare about strike,” the post says, adding that the protest is not personalized and is not dictated with the fear to lose job. “We are against the political position and stress that culture has always been the visit card of the country and the Ministry of Culture should remain Ministry of Culture,” Gurgen Alekyan wrote.
The cause of strike is the new decision of the government according to which from early 2019 the ministries of culture and sports and youth affairs will not be separate ministries but will be united with the Ministry of Education and Science.
