Armenia’s acting PM to be guided by Armenia’s interests if gas price issue is discussed in Moscow: Newly elected MP
Newly elected MP from My Step bloc’s list Hovhannes Igityan says he does not expect anything from acting PM Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Moscow and meeting with the Vladimir Putin on December 27.
“Both sides stated that they have issues to discuss,” Igityan told Aysor.am.
Asked what changes to expect regarding gas price, Igityan said, he does not know what mass media representatives forwarded the issue of gas price growth. “How it happens that one media possesses such information, the other no, moreover the officials do not possess such information either,” he said, expressing conviction that if the gas price issue is discussed at the meeting the Armenian PM will be guided by Armenia’s interests.
“Russia has many times stated that its EAEU allies have special attitude. Now we will see this attitude,” Igityan said.
Referring to the situation over the post of the CSTO secretary general, Igityan said that Armenia is trying to carry out constructive works regarding the structure’s charter.
“Unfortunately, the CSTO’s Charter does not regulate such situations. Today Armenia is trying to regulate the issue in a constructive way. We are not fighting against Lukashenko pushing forward our candidate. We are trying to register the principle in the charter that will stem from the interests of all member states,” he said.
As to the observation that Lukashenko has already signed a draft bill appointing Stanislav Zas in the post, Igityan said that Lukashenko is trying to write down his wish on paper.
“This nomination is not regulated either, while we are trying to regulate it. There is no clear procedure, the process should be done in a legal way,” he said.
As to the already existing consensus over Zas’ candidacy, Igityan said that consensus means the consent of all the member states. He added that Armenia wants to regulate all the issues legally and not allow the issue be settled by the stubbornness or activeness of one of the member states.
