SIS applies to Russian side for second time over ex DM’s Michael Harutyunyan’s case
The Special Investigation Service has recently received the response to the inquiry sent over the defendant in March 1 criminal case Michael Harutyunyan.
SIS spokesperson Marina Ohanjanyan told Aysor.am that the received response says that Michael Harutyunyan is citizen of Russian Federation and nothing more.
“The SIS has sent an additional inquiry asking when he has received the Russian citizenship,” Ohanjanyan said.
Harutyunyan is accused of overthrowing constitutional order with a group of people in Armenia in 2008. Arrest has been chosen as a preventive measure, a search has been declared for him.
Earlier Russian Interfax reported that Yerevan sent an official inquiry for extradition of former defense minister.
The Russian side stated that the inquiry will be examined but stated that more probably the Russian side would reject the extradition request as Harutyunyan has become Russia’s citizen from 2002.
