Examination of petition on changing Armen Gevorgyan’s preventive measure postponed to January 17
The examination of the petition on preventive measure of Armenia’s former deputy PM, former secretary of National Security Council Armen Gevorgyan has been set for January 17.
The examination has been postponed as the defense side has not received the sample of complaint of the prosecutor and is not aware on what basis the prosecutor appeals the decision of the general jurisdiction court.
Special Investigation Service has filed a petition to choose arrest as preventive measure but the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction has declined the petition. The Prosecutor General’s office though has filed a complaint demanding Gevorgyan’s arrest.
Gevorgyan is charged with 4 articles of the Criminal Code, one of them is obstruction of justice. On December 11 it was stated that he is charged with assistance to overthrow constitutional order, as well as for getting big amount of bribe and money laundering.
