The first session of the new NA to elect new chairman, vice speakers, discuss bill on changing government structure
The new parliament formed as a result of December 9 snap parliamentary elections will start its works on Monday, January 14 at 10 a.m.
According to the NA Regulation the first session will be chaired by the eldest MP until the election of the new chairman of the parliament. Like the previous time, this time as well the eldest MP in the NA is Knyaz Hasanov, 74, representative of Kurdish community. The youngest MP is Sona Ghazaryan – 25 years old.
President of the country and Catholicos of All Armenians have right to deliver welcoming speeches at the opening of the first session of the new NA.
After the welcoming speeches, the MPs will give oath and on the basis of CEC declration the total number of MPs will be declared.
Afterwards the person chairing the session will announce the agenda – creation of calculating committee, election of NA chairman, three vice chairmen, discussion of bill on changing the structure of the government.
The first session will end with the concluding speech of the NA chairman and announcement of the day of the regular session.
The newly elected NA will have 132 MPs. My Step bloc has nominated candidacy of Ararat Mirzoyan in the post of the NA chairman and candidacy of Lena Nazaryan and Alen Simonyan in the posts of vice speaker of the parliament.
PAP has offered candidacy of Vahe Enfiajyan and Bright Armenia offered candidacy of Mane Tandilyan in the post of the vice speaker of the parliament.
According to circulating information, the number of standing committees will turn to 11 from 9. One of them will deal with the issues of membership to the Eurasian Economic Union and will be chaired by PAP MP Michael Melkumyan.
As to the bill on changing the structure of the government, it proposes turning the number of ministries from 17 to 12.
