Role of NA as “respondent” to be changed: NA chairman candidate promises to intensify parliament’s activity

The program of the newly formed government will have a core place in the legislative agenda of the newly formed NA, NA chairman candidate Ararat Mirzoyan said, addressing the parliament today.

“I am going to do everything I can to reach the maximum and widest parliamentary consolidation over the program of the government and its implementation as I strongly believe that each delegate of our people will seek to exert efforts for the erection of Armenia we all dream of,” the candidate said in his speech.

He stressed that the parliament must be initiative and stop being just a “respondent” it used to be for many years.

Mirzoyan also stressed that he is going to ensure establishment of joint agenda in the parliament. “I believe that the discussions, the wish to make mutual concessions may give this NA an opportunity to set certain joint, united and agreed agenda,” he said.

He also noted that the new parliament must also actively implement oversight functions.
