New parliament of 7th convocation starts its works
The National Assembly of 6th convocation ended its work and the newly formed parliament of 7th convocation started its work today.
The first session is chaired by the eldest MP Knyaz Hasanov. Armenia’s acting PM Nikol Pashinyan is not participating in the session.
The MPs are not due to elect Prime Minister at this session. Immediately after the session kicks off Armenia’s president signs a decree appointing the candidate of the majority in the post of the country's Prime Minister. As it is known the candidate of the majority is Nikol Pashinyan.
His Holiness Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, Armenia’s president Armen Sarkissian delievered opening remarks.
“The year of 2018 was a year of hopes, of consolidation of the people. With the formation of new National Assembly and government the first phase of the political changes ends and the next one, the phase of implementation of hopes and promises, phase of consistent work starts,” Armen Sarkissian said, addressing the parliament.
He said a number of reforms are to be implemented in all the sectors with the prior issue being the improvement of welfare of the citizens.
After the president’s speech oath ceremony of the MPs took place.
