Armenia has potential to produce weapons: My Step MP

Armenia should start developing its military-industrial sector, MP from My Step faction Tigran Karapetyan told the reporters today, asked which weaponry is preferable for Armenia - American or Russian.

“I am more inclined to having developed military industry in Armenia as we really had good traditions in this sector and unfortunately, we did not use this opportunity during the past decade but the potential we have may be addressed to having maximum possible military industrial products,” he said.

The MP said that military-industrial concept is being worked out for Armenia. “There will be legislative initiatives, military-industrial state committee. This sector is not only about production of arms. We have investments in Armenia, new plants are being built,” he said.

Asked whether there is a potential for Armenia to be able to satisfy own demand and not to import weapons from other countries, Karapetyan said that there are types of arms Armenia may produce on its own and stop importing from other countries.
