Diaspora Ministry should not be kept to please the Diaspora: ex minister
Diaspora Ministry will be replaced by a separate structure, former minister, candidate to head NA’s Science, Education, Diaspora, Youth and Sports Affairs Standing Committee Mkhitar Hayrapetyan said, speaking at the parliament today.
He said as of the moment issue on creating either government-affiliated Diaspora department or Diaspora commissioner office is being discussed.
He stressed that the “best employees” of the ministry will work there.
In response to MP Edmon Marukyan’s question, Hayrapetyan said the ministry will not be annulled but turned into other structure, “We are talking about institutional changes,” he said.
“We have talked about the significance of the Diaspora Ministry: if we keep it, it is necessary to give it super levers, if it is to be just what it used to, we better not have it at all. We should not keep the ministry to please the Diaspora. We must be frank with them,” he said.
