Wiretapped conversation testifies pressures made on courts: Kocharyan's attorney
Robert Kocharyan’s defense team has already submitted one complain to the Court of Appeal and is going to present another one to dispute today’s decision of the court.
Kocharyan’s attorney Aram Orbelyan said that the complaint to the Court of Appeal relates to the two issues - formation of case examination court and 300.1 Article of the Criminal Code.
Orbelyan stressed that neither Kocharyan nor any other person may be subjected to responsibility for what they did in the 2008 according to the legislation amended in 2009.
“We have seven cases over which the accusations have been eliminated under the same article. If that time prosecution refused to file charges under 300.1 article as it worsens the condition of the person why it does it now,” Orbelyan said, stressing that the article cannot be applied in one case and not applied in the other.
As to considering Kocharyan a political prisoner, Orbelyan said that that the made decisions and undertaken steps are politcally motivated.
Asked about any possible pressures on the legal process, Orbelyan said, “In neither of developed countries NSS director, SIS chief and prime minister would have continued their tenure after leakage of such conversation. The wiretapped conversation clearly implied that pressures are made on the court.”
