Leaving NSS and police out of parliament’s control not hailed by Bright Armenia faction MPs

What was not permissible for Serzh Sargsyan cannot be permissible for Nikol Pashinyan, Bright Armenia faction MP Ani Samsonyan said, referring to the issue on leaving the police and the NSS out of the control of the parliament.

Bright Armenia faction secretary Gevorg Gorgisyan said previously the NA chairman Ararat Mirzoyan was of the different opinion over the issue. “If these force institutions are not subjected to the parliament’s control and will not come to the NA, they may be freely used by the Prime Minister with political motives to pressure the opposition,” Gorgisyan quoted Mirzoyan as saying and added that they cannot have guarantees that the new government will not do it.

Gorgisyan also said that while being Yelk faction MP Nikol Pashinyan was against for these structures to be subjected to the PM as it is perceived as super prime ministerial system.

“If these structures are left out of the parliament’s control their heads will not have to appear in the NA and answer the questions of the MPs. The responsibility in such case fells on the prime minister which is very bad,” he said, adding that they are not personalizing the issue but are targeting the system.
