Armenia’s PM says high-qualified specialists refuse to work in government due to low salaries
Involvement of highly-qualified specialists in the government system is a problem, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in live video in Facebook today.
“There are people with certain qualification, we invite them to work as ministers, but they say, sorry, but we get 5-6 and some say they even get 10 million AMD salaries and we can’t come and work for 400-600 thousand AMD,” Pashinyan said, responding to the criticism addressed toward the government’s staff policy.
Pashinyan though added that he does not share the opinion that the government has worst staff but added that some people refuse to work as ministers due to low state salaries.
“They do not say they do not want to work as ministers and serve the country, but the salary is too low. They said they have taken loans, assumed financial commitments based on their salaries and now if they leave their high-paid jobs they will not manage to pay their debts,” Pashinyan said.
