Republican party's spokesperson raises questions, demands answers from PM
Statement of the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that no detail has been discussed at the meeting with Azerbaijani president is rather strange, spokesperson for the Republican party Eduard Sharmazanov said, speaking to Aysor.am.
“What have they discussed then? Weather?” Sharmazanov asked.
The party’s spokesperson also referred to the statement of the PM that there is no conspiracy.
“So I want to ask him, what does he understand by saying conspiracy? Something that is a conspiracy for the people of Artsakh or majority of the Armenian people may not be a conspiracy for him,” Sharmazanov stressed.
He also noted that neither Mammadyarov nor Aliyev have changed their positions and they reiterated their position which is - “territories for peace”.
“They have stated that Karabakh cannot be independent, so a question rises, why does not Pashinyan state that Karabakh cannot be part of Azerbaijan, why does not he say that “peace for territories” idea is unacceptable and deniable, why does not he state that as a guarantor of security of the people of Artsakh he will do everything to defend the results of the 1991 December referendum,” Sharmazanov said.
The party’s spokesperson also asks Pashinyan why the leadership of Karabakh is not participating at the meetings, as Armenia’s PM promised to do everything for the Karabakh side to become a full negotiating party.
“Did he tell Aliyev at this meeting that whether he wants or not he should sit at the table of negotiations with Karabakh?” Sharmazanov asked, adding that he wants the PM to answer to all the questions he raised.
“If not, it means these meetings do not serve our interests,” he concluded.
