Republican party deputy chairman urges the current government not to ascribe the evaluations of their efforts to them
The Good Country Index of 2018 was published yesterday with Armenia having imporved its position from the previous 75th to 45th among 163 countries, vice chairman of the Republican party Armen Ashotyan wrote in Facebook.
“This international rating is being worked out on the basis of statistical data of UN and its different agencies and aims at finding out the contribution of countries to the development of the earth and the humanity,” Ashotyan wrote, adding that irrespective of political disputes, all are pleased and happy with the success of the country and such issues are outside of the domestic political agenda.
“But the pro-governmental press, as usual, tried to ascribe this success to the acting government manipulating our citizens which made me to refer to the anatomy of the “Armenian miracle.” This international rating is based on the data of previous years with at least two-year difference. For instance the rating of 2017 was based on the data of 2014, the 2016 on the data of 2011 and so on. It is obvious that this year’s rating is based on the data of 2015-2016 which means that the country’s improved rating has nothing to do with Nikol Pashinyan’s magic stick but is the assessment of work of the former authorities,” Ashotyan wrote, adding that he would be only happy if the current authorities will continue consistent improvement of Armenia’s positions but warned not to ascribe the evaluation of their work to them.
“Go and work,” Ashotyan concluded.
