Studies initiated to reveal impact of American sanctions on Armenia’s economy

Armenia’s Economic Development and Investments Ministry has initiated studies to find out the possible impact of American sanctions on the Armenian economy, Anahit Khechoyan, head of ministry’s information department, told Aysor.am.

Aysor.am has sent an inquiry to the ministry to find out the situation with the companies working with Iranian capital, trying to find out the volume of  impact of the U.S. sanctions on them and consequently on Armenia's economy in general.

Khechoyan stressed that they are more interested in the general impact of the sanctions on the Armenian economy and not on the separate organizations. “For finding it out, we need to know how many such organizations we have,” she said.

Khechoyan said it is not clear in what way the information will be presented to the public after the studies are completed but stressed that two ways are possible either via press release or the ministry will pass the information to the government, which will present it.

“The important thing here is that as a ministry responsible for economic development, we have initiated such a study,” the ministry’s official said, adding that the other issues like how it will be presented and by who are matters of time.
