Sharp turns not useful in international relations: Armenia’s PM
While being an MP I was against Armenia’s membership to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) but it does not mean that for correcting this mistake contrary steps must be undertaken, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in Moscow today.
“You know my position in this regard. When I was an MP I voted against the decision and after it I have stated many times that though we considered it a wrong decision, it does not mean that we must take contrary steps to correct the mistake,” he said, adding that he always brings example of the ex U.S. President Barack Obama.
“I always bring this example. Former U.S. President Barack Obama considered that his predecessor President Bush did a wrong thing by deploying troops in Iraq and did the opposite, he withdrew the forces and what did we get as a result? We got “Islamic State.” Armenia is EAEU member and it is a fact. I do not think that sharp turns are useful in international relations,” he said, adding that as it is clearly seen, Armenia’s efforts are aimed at making the EAEU more efficient, just like in case of the CSTO.
“We register the fact and do everything possible for Armenia’s membership to the EAEU be effective, useful and promising,” the PM summed up.
