Azerbaijan’s regular anti-Armenian propaganda after sculpture of Artsakh freedom fighter unveiled in Georgia’s village
Sculpture of freedom fighter killed in Artsakh was unveiled in Georgia’s Bughashen village.
After the ceremony Azerbaijan stated that the unveiling of the monument contradicts Georgia’s state policy which recognizes Azerbaijani territorial integrity.
The Georgian ambassador to Baku was summoned to the country’s foreign ministry. The Azerbaijani officials demanded immediate efforts to eliminate the fact which does not correspond to the strategic partnership between the two countries.
On their part, Georgia’s foreign ministry came up with the statement describing the situation over the monument irrelevant.
Speaking to Aysor.am, expert on Georgian affairs Jonny Melikyan said, that it is just another anti-Armenian propaganda by the Azerbaijani side.
“With it they are trying to gain dividends and in parallel with it create new wave of anti-Armenian moods in Georgia, in which they succeeded with social media and mass media presenting one-sided approaches, which was not correct,” he said.
The expert said that the statue is there from 1990s but as far as Avagyan was from Bughashen village, the villagers wanted it to be placed there.
