Bolton may try 22 times but fail, while Armenia may succeed pushing forward its interests: Tevan Poghosyan
Nothing will change if the other two parties of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are unaware of the issues U.S. president’s adviser Bolton referred to at the conversation with Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev, political analyst Tevan Poghosyan told Aysor.am referring to the Twitter post of John Bolton informing about phone conversation with Azerbaijani president.
He stressed that if the issues are not discussed with Armenia and Artsakh, if their approaches are not shared no changes will be registered in the conflict settlement process.
Earlier Bolton had a phone conversation with Pashinyan as well, with the latter stating that no reference to the Karabakh issue was made.
As to what it may mean that the U.S. side does not discuss the issue with the Armenian party but refers to it in conversation with Azerbaijani side, Poghosyan said, “May be they have already understood that Azerbaijan must make concessions and calls and asks them to do it. But if seriously, the only legitimate body dealing with the Karabakh conflict settlement is the OSCE Minsk Group. The United States has certain interests thus it is trying to undertake some steps. America and Azerbaijan have close relations,” Tevan Poghosyan said.
Asked about any threat from the one-sided talks between the USA and Azerbaijan, the expert said the threat exists every day on the frontline and is being neutralized by an Armenian soldier.
“The threat is in our economy, in our ability to be stronger than Azerbaijan. If we stand firmly on our foot we will win. Bolton may 22 times try but fail, he will understand that it does not work. He may call Pashinyan and again fail, now he calls Azerbaijan trying to raise intrigues. If we clearly imagine our issues and interests we must push them forward – we must develop our economy, strengthen our army so that if someone tries to bypass us discussing the issues with another country, fails while we will succeed,” Poghosyan said.
