Armenia should be ready to any developments: Bright Armenia MP on Azerbaijani MFA statement

The statement of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan was a logical continuation of the developments of the recent days, MP from the Bright Armenia faction Arman Babajanyan said at a briefing today.

“As of now, we have a rather complicated situation as with his statement for domestic consumption Nikol Pashinyan sent a message to the world and Azerbaijan that the previously discussed “territories for peace” formula is not acceptable for Armenia,” Babajanyan said.

The statement was made by the PM at a briefing with reporters on January 30. He excluded the discussion of “territories for peace” formula. The statement was followed by a response of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry which stated that “it is difficult to understand the logic of Mr Pashinyan.”

The MP said that the Armenian authorities must clarify to the people what is happening starting from the meetings in Brussels, New York, Paris, Milan which were followed by positive statements from the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

“I think Azerbaijan will gradually sharpen its rhetoric, and we must be prepared for new developments as Azerbaijan’s policy on reaching oral arrangement over ensuring peace on the border is just for seducing,” the MP said, stressing that Armenia has no right to give in to Azerbaijani ‘gifts’ which are just aimed at gaining time.

Asked whether he sees any war threat this year, the MP said he cannot predict the time but Armenia must be ready for it at any moment.

The MP also said that the Armenian side must avoid participating in any process out of the OSCE Minsk Group format.
