Azerbaijan tries to shift responsibility for failure of negotiations on Armenian side: political analyst
The new authorities of Armenia have not undertaken any step for resuming the negotiations over Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, political analyst Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan told Aysor.am, referring to the statement of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry that the Armenian side seems to refuse to resume negotiations.
“Meetings take place on behalf of leaders of countries and foreign ministers but the comments following them show that these are not negotiations yet but a process of getting familiarized with one another. This approach gives Azerbaijan an opportunity to say that the Armenian side avoids the negotiations. Azerbaijan wants to shift the responsibility for failure of negotiations on the Armenian side,” the political analyst said.
Melik-Shahnazaryan said while in reality Azerbaijan does everything for the negotiations to fail and the April war was the best proof of it.
“They are trying to make use of inexperience of our authorities, shifting the responsibility on the Armenian side, this is why they comment each statement from Yerevan as an attempt to avoid the negotiations,” the expert said, adding that the issue is more in-depth as with its inexperience the Armenian side fails to make Azerbaijan return to the table of negotiations.
He stressed that Azerbaijan is not getting prepared for peaceful settlement of the conflict but is trying to win time and get prepared for a new war.
“Azerbaijan does everything for a new war to break and put responsibility of it on the Armenian side. I think they are carrying our quite successful policy. Our authorities seem to believe in elevator arrangements and treat Azerbaijani president’s words seriously, without noticing that ‘decline of tension’ is being used by Azerbaijan for improving its frontline positions and gathering attacking equipment there,” Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan said.
