Current authorities should be afraid of losing legitimacy: political analyst
The current authorities enjoy high legitimacy today but they should realize that the legitimacy and power are not eternal. On the background of public disappointment the authorities must make quick conclusions, political analyst Levon Shirinyan told Aysor.am, adding that by spring only half of this legitimacy will remain.
“The authorities should be very afraid of absolute decline of legitimacy. If they allow the situation continue if not in May but already in September the situation will be against them,” he said adding that the authorities must understand that they should undertake urgent means, present programs, work out reconstruction doctrine.
“The current authorities should not sleep and wake and say that they are legitimate. It is necessary to remember that legitimacy is not eternal,” he said, adding that the ruling force has nothing to present.
Asked whether the acting authorities will manage to undertake serious reforms by May to neutralize the growing dissatisfaction of the people, Shirinyan said, it will be difficult to neutralize but they may try to suspend it.
“The issue is to stop the decline. The prime minister can gather a group of specialists in a week and tell the people that he is working on the reforms. “If the people see that the authorities are working they will believe them,” the political analyst said.
As to the former authorities, Shirinyan said that they have no chances for “revival” but have all the chances to harm.
According to media publications, the non-parliamentary opposition is undertaking serious and literate steps to shutter the positions of the current authorities and surprise them in May when one year of Pashinyan’s ruling will be marked.
