No one, especially Nikol Pashinyan, will succeed in controlling the media: president of Union of Armenian Journalists
President of the Union of Armenian Journalists, editor-in-chief of 168.am website Satik Seyranyan does not agree with the claim that the Armenian media has never been as free as it is today.
“The author of this phrase is Armenia’s Prime Minister, our former colleague Nikol Pashinyan. I am of the opposite opinion which is based on clear facts,” Seyranyan said, speaking to Aysor.am.
The president of the union stressed that no one, and Nikol Pashinyan in particular, will succeed in controlling the media. Seyranyan stressed that today media is ignored.
“The social networks have come to the first place, and now they complain that the posts in the social networks are being placed in websites. There is no need to be surprised of it, you have done it yourself. You showed that social networks are first. You want you make a live video, you speak as much as you want, you want you write a status, answer questions, and media accepted your rules of game,” Seyranyan stressed.
She also noted that the incident on February 2 when the media representatives were not allowed to enter the NA building and cover the session of My Step bloc was not against the media oly but the whole public.
“First, what does it mean to turn the National Assembly into a party office? What does it mean the session is closed? Go and talk in your party’s office. What does it mean that it is Saturday? Yes, I consider it violation of freedom of speech,” Seyranyan said.
