Political analyst describes government’s program weak and unclear
Nothing revolutionary is in Armenia’s government’s program, political analyst Aghasi Yenokyan said, speaking to Aysor.am.
“It is a rather weak program. When they say it will be the second phase of the revolution, I will say that there is nothing revolutionary there. It is a commonly written program, but weaker and more unclear than the previous ones. It refers to the whole program. No numbers were mentioned which would have been guideline for them in future and would have helped them understand whether the program was implemented or not,” Yenokyan said.
As to the relations with separate states, Yenokyan said that if an attempt is being made to raise the level of relations like for instance in case of Iran, it is necessary to register clear steps in that direction.
“We will see how they will develop the relations, as considering the serious international pressure on Iran, I do not imagine how Armenia may avoid these pressures. We know that the relations with Iran are not just bilateral relations, there are number of issues and some of them relate to Artsakh’s security component,” Yenokyan stressed.
The political analyst described the provision relating to Artsakh rather concerning.
“We consider that the status is the most powerful element of security and till now the negotiations were held over it. And now they add the security which means thinking over alternatives over status of Nagorno Karabakh. While the only guarantee of security is Artsakh’s international recognition and international security guarantees,” the political analyst said, adding that if the security element is being added from the side, it is supposed that the government may carry out a policy which will allow some alternative to the recognition of Artsakh.
Summing up, Yenokyan said that the program is rather weak, unclear, not obliging.
“This means that the government does not take any concrete responsibilities not to be accountable in future,” he said, adding that the NA will definitely approve it, having 100% support of the MPs.
