Works undertaken to end construction of North-South highway in set period of time: minister

Works are being carried out to complete the Tranche 1 and Tranche 2 construction works of the North-South highway in the set period until September 2019, transport, communication and IT minister Hakob Arshakyan told the reporters today.

“The volume of carried out works has considerably increased due to our efforts. From the very beginning the works were passing very slowly and the process has slowed down until the change of government. We will continue our efforts until the works end in the set period of time,” he said.

As to why the works in Tranche 2 slowed down, regarding the circumstance that Pashinyan promised at one of his press conferences to make revelations and refer to the issues, Arshakyan said, “There were serious issues in Tranche 1 and Tranche 2 regarding the quality. As far as the issue is being investigated at the Investigative Committee, I prefer not to comment it.”
