Government to work hard over attracting big investments to ensure higher economic growth: minister

Economic revolution must be ensured by the participants of the economic life of the country, economic development and investments minister Tigran Khachatryan told the reporters today.

“The government is the key organizer and participant of the big game and it must eliminate all the impediments on the way of implementation of business initiatives,” he said.

The minister said that the government’s program includes two important indexes.

“The government has stated that the motor of the economic growth or the guide is the export or the opportunity of selling products created in Armenia in foreign markets. Our export volume reaches 38%. Now it is stated that it should reach 43%,” the minister said.

Khachatryan said the other important index is the growth of investments.

“In 2023 the index must reach 23-25%,” the minister said, adding that their wish is to ensure conditions for essentially high economic growth.

“But everything must have a basis and this basis is formed by investments. If the government succeeds and it will do everything to succeed, be sure that we will speak about higher economic growth,” Khachatryan said.

The minister did not agree with the observation that the government’s program is “collection of toasts.”

“I do not agree with it principally. The people who gave such qualifications to it have not read the program attentively enough,” the minister said.
