Nagorno-Karabakh conflict may be very dangerous if not managed right: Armenian president
Nagorno-Karabakh frozen conflict is not regulated yet and may be very dangerous if not managed right, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian stated during the visit to Heidelberg University in Germany, president’s press service reports.
“In a small region called Nagorno-Karabakh, which we call Artsakh Republic, the frozen conflict is not regulated and may be very dangerous if not managed in a right way. There is no other way for me but peaceful settlement of the conflict. Any other variant will be destructive for all,” the president said.
“The important thing here is not how powerful you are, or how much money you spent on ammunition or how big your army is. Different interests and challenges are focused here. This is really a crossroad of different civilizations. See what happens – Syria, Middle East are not very far, or Iran, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Russia,” the president stressed.
According to the president, even the smallest de-stabilizing phenomenon may be destructive here.
“Thus, there is only one way – peaceful settlement of the conflict. And I hope that the conflict settlement will be based on the rationality, human values. I hope the final resolution will be based on the rights of people of Nagorno-Karabakh,” Armen Sarkissian concluded.
