People steal road signs on highway taking up to Iranian border: minister
Armenian Transport, Communication and IT Ministry has a program from Yerevan to the border of Iran. Modern signs will be installed on the road.
About 4,000 signs are to be installed. The program is coming to an end, minister Hakob Arshakyan said at the cabinet sitting today.
“We have registered a peculiar fact that the signs are being stolen and used for other purposes,” the minister said, adding that it should be prevented as state means are being spent on them, besides it is a security issue.
The minister said about one million USD is being spent.
“One million is being spent and then it appears that the issue has not been solved and another means are to be spent again, and then it appears that they are being stolen and so on, and it appears that no sum has been formed for us to solve the issue of another emergency building or raise pensions. I want the people to clearly understand the chain, starting from not taking the CRM till other global issues,” the PM said.
He stressed that the responsibility for this chain first of all lays on the government but it does not mean that it is the only one responsible for it.
He said that when they say the citizens must change their economic behavior it means they should not harm.
