Medical center headed by minister’s spouse to get double state funds as compared with past year
Armenia’s Health Ministry has published on the eve list of companies of the sector that will get state funds for implementation of state guaranteed free and privileged medical assistance and service. The decision was signed by minister Torosyan on January 25.
The examination of the document reveals that MIBS company related to minister Arsen Torosyan will get 57,04 million AMD order in 2019. For comparison, last year the order of the same company made 22,72 million AMD. In fact, the minister increased the funding of the company related to him 2,5 times.
MIBS is a private medical center providing magnetic-resonance imaging services. Previously it was headed by Arsen Torosyan who left the post to become health minister. According to some information, currently it is headed by his wife Varduhi Tevanyan.
The medical center will get financing in two directions: MIBS will get 41,34 million AMD for implementation of Outpatient hardly affordable diagnostic studies. With the same aim the state will provide 83,2 million AMD to 11 regional medical centers of the republic.
The second state order direction is the same service intended for servicemen. For that purpose, the company headed by minister’s spouse will get 15,68 million AMD. The other 7 regional medical centers will get ten times less money for the same purpose – 1,6 million AMD.
Another interesting fact is that the Ministry has raised the funding of Astghik medical center belonging to former MP Samvel Alexanyan’s family by 62%. It will get 2,64 billion AMD from the state budget in 2019.
Among the regional medical centers the preference is given to those in Ijevan, Armenia’s PM’s birthplace. Ijevan medical center will get 265,1 million AMD which is 59 million more as compared with the past year, while the medical center of bordering Berd will get 201,4 million, 4,4 less as compared with the past year.
