Armenia wins from being EAEU member: economist
Free trade zones are aimed at attracting investments, intensifying business environment, economist Tatul Manaseryan told Aysor.am, referring to the proposal of PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan to create free economic zone in Armenia for EAEU countries voiced in Sochi. The economist said it may make Armenia more visible for the foreign market.
“Free economic zones are very different with their classification, types, goals, directions. If all conditions are ensured – rule of law, satisfactory income level, free competition environment, etc., it will have positive impact on Armenia’s economy. I suppose that the free economic zone irrespective of its directions and type will be favorable for us,” the economist said.
Asked whether the voiced proposal may promote Armenia’s bigger involvement in the EAEU, Manaseryan said it will, as Armenia, as a member of the organization, will become a favorable environment.
As to Armenia’s current position in the Union, Manaseryan said, “It is a very difficult question. In general, I may say that Armenia wins from being member of the Eurasian Economic Union. The economic figures show it,” he said, adding that the figures are quite encouraging.
