NA chairman against changing governance system of the country
Chairman of the Armenian National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan does not back the idea of passing to semi-presidential governance model, he told the reporters today.
“I think we must continue moving forward. Now we have parliamentary system and must do everything for this system to progress. Constitutional reforms are possible though I think not in the scale of turning the country from parliamentary one into semi-presidential,” he said.
The NA chairman did not reject that the issue of constitutional reforms is on the agenda of the political team but did not unveil the concrete provisions, saying that the issue is still being discussed.
The NA chairman did not exclude that the issue of presidential authorities may also be referred to.
Last week the Armenian National Congress proposed to implement constitutional reforms, conduct a referendum and pass from parliamentary governance system to semi-presidential.
