Etchmiadzin mayor knows initiator of signature gathering against her, does not treat the process seriously

Mayor of Etchmiadzin Diana Gasparyan knows the initiator of the signature gathering against her, the mayor told Aysor.am, referring to the information that a group of residents of the town are against her governance and staff policy and decided to organize signature gathering demanding her resignation.

She said she will not name the person but added that the mentioned citizen is not an official and does not represent any political force.

“Someone decided to organize a signature gathering. As to the rest, I do not know, only on the level of circulating news. They say they are dissatisfied with my activity, but I do not understand what they are talking about. They speak generally, without bringing any example, any application-complaint rejected by the municipality,” Gasparyan said.

As to the staff policy, the mayor said that the announcements about vacancies in the municipality are being periodically placed on the official website of the municipality and competitions are being periodically held.

“I am not even a member of the competition commission. I do not understand what staff policy they are talking about. Last summer a competition was held and people were selected who I did not know before. We gathered a very good staff,” she said.

She also noted that on March 1 interview of educators for kinder-gartens will be conducted. “It is not demanded by the law, we may accept them without it, but we have decided to conduct interview and select the best ones,” Gasparyan said.

The mayor also stressed that the mayoral elections took place 4-5 months ago with the results not having been disputed. “All have accepted that free and transparent elections took place. In such condition I consider this signature gathering not serious,” she said.
