No disobedience moods in Artsakh: Davit Babayan on Sefilyan’s statements

There are some people, forces, individuals in democratic countries who sometimes come up with extremist ideas, but people of Artsakh have expressed their opinion and attitude toward such ideas long ago, head of the Artsakh president’s press service Davit Babayan told Aysor.am, referring to the statement of freedom fighter Zhirayr Sefilyan that changes are necessary in Artsakh through civil disobedience and in a peaceful way and Sasna Tsrer, as a political force, will try to accelerate the process as soon as possible.

“There are no grounds for it, what civil disobedience? For who? Why? Artsakh people know what to fight for, know what it means to take to streets, to squares. The manifestations of disobedience that were registered here for years since 1988 where in just few places: we were stubborn and went till the end,” he said, adding that the mentioned disobedience aimed at revealing the all-national issues with people having eagerly sacrificed themselves and not just fought for chair of one-two people. “Such ideology is strange for Artsakh people,” Babayan stressed.

At the same time Babayan stressed that Artsakh is a democratic country where everyone is free to expressed his/her opinion but everything should be done in the limits of law.

“In a year elections are due in Artsakh, are we supposed to satisfy the ambitions of this or that person for just few months? No such thing will take place, it is impossible, especially in case when there are no disobedience moods in Artsakh. Of course, there are always dissatisfied people ready to give votes for any candidate for the incumbent president not to be elected. But president of Artsakh has stated that he is not going to participate in 2020 presidential elections. This was a shock for many, and they remained shocked till now,” Babayan said.
