Robert Kocharyan carried out positive activity too during his tenure: NSS director
Filing lawsuit against anyone is the constitutional right of any citizen, National Security Service director Artur Vanetsyan told the reporters after cabinet sitting today.
“Sedrak Kocharyan is free to file a lawsuit and the court to decide whether we are guilty or not,” he said.
Vanetsyan stressed that there is no political persecution. “We did not want to release any statement, the initiative belongs to them,” the NSS director stressed.
Vanetsyan said that the lawsuit against him is also about the statement he voiced at a well-known press conference. “I have stated immediately after the press conference that I formulated my words in a wrong way, I gave clarification, but they applied to court,” he said.
Vanetsyan stressed that the presumption of innocence was not violated.
As to whether while saying Kocharyans family he means Sedrak Kocharyan, Vanetsyan said, “While saying Kocharyan’s family we mean all the members of the family,” and added that he personally has no issues with them.
“Kocharyans family has done nothing to me personally. Robert Kocharyan was Armenia’s second president, he had done positive things too during his activity, he was first president of Artsakh and as an officer, I cannot have any personal or any other issue with that family,” the NSS director said, claiming that the issue should not be personalized.
