Minister does not imagine participation of YSU rector Aram Simonyan in celebrations of 100th anniversary of YSU
The 100th anniversary of the Yerevan State University will be marked festively while Aram Simonyan is currently solving personal issues, education and science minister Arayik Harutyunyan said at a live video on Facebook today, referring to the issue of marking the 100th anniversary of the YSU.
He accused the YSU rector in lying while stating that the 100th anniversary will not be celebrated.
“Weeks ago after the meeting with the same Simonyan, I went to Nikol Pashinyan and we discussed how we are going to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the YSU. I mean there cannot be any other opinion, and I have received clear instruction from the PM. A commission has been set up. Simonayn’s claims that the commission has not been step up agreed with his personality is a pure lie,” Harutyunyan said.
He stressed that during the recent months Simonyan had a ‘wide opportunity to work with dignity’ as the incumbent authorities gave him wide autonomy.
Harutyunyan also said that while speaking with Simonyan, he said he does not imagine the celebration of the YSU 100th anniversary with his participation.
“All the negative there, all the violations, all the restrictions of students and professors are all agreed with his personality. If we are going to mark the 100th anniversary what message we will give to the public in case when Aram Simonyan continues ruling in the YSU,” the minister stressed.
It has been reported earlier that YSU high ranking official has received from a head of a company property equivalent to $10,000 as a bribe. In other words, the head of the company has partially reconstructed the YSU high-ranking official's apartment and mansion and installed heating system against which in 2015 the YSU high-ranking official signed a 400,000,000 AMD contract with the company for carrying out construction activities.
