Iranian FM’s resignation to have no impact on U.S.-Iranian relations: expert
The resignation of the Iranian foreign minister will not have any impact on U.S.-Iranian relations or their further pace, expert, political analyst Suren Sargsyan told Aysor.am.
“Resignation of the Iranian foreign minister is just a domestic political process which of course is of prior foreign political significance. Mohammad Javad Zarif was a serious and professional diplomat and had a long-year experience and was always responding to all the processes,” the political analyst said.
At the same time Suren Sargsyan said that the American mass media is not hurrying to make conclusions over the resignation of Iranian top diplomat as everything is very new yet.
“But I think additional information will be provided in the upcoming days,” he said, adding that it is necessary to wait and see the developments to follow.
Referring to the current relations between Iran and the USA, Sargsyan described them as being in the status of a “cold war” which is peculiar for them for the past decades.
“The two countries have conflict of interests in almost all the regions of the world. The clash of their interests is of permanent nature with no improvements expected in the near future,” the expert concluded.
The Iranian FM announced about his resignation at about midnight on Instagram. The lawmakers have initiated signature gathering addressed to Rouhani with a call not to accept his resignation for him to continue his tenure.
