Armenia’s police chief says growth of crime rate in Armenia not worrying
Chief of the Armenian police does not consider the growth of crime rate, robbery cases in Armenia worrying.
“We have growth of the number of robbery cases but it has not reached the level to be worried about,” Osipyan said after the meeting with the My Step faction MPs at the NA.
The police chief said that in parallel with the growth of robbery cases, the number of crimes against person as well as number of crimes committed by teenagers as well as corruption crimes have reduced in number.
Asked what the robbery cases are agreed with, Osipyan said that after the change of the situation and revolution in particular, people have become more sensible.
“They apply to the police for any tiny thing,” he said adding that during the six months of the revolution the number of applications to the police increased by 807 as compared with the same span of the previous year.
The police chief agreed the growth of robbery cases with the declared amnesty. He said according to information, about 58 amnestied have committed double crimes.
