New players expected in petrol market: minister

Armenia’s market is open with the prices going up and down agreed with the market factors, economic development and investments minister Tigran Khachatryan said, adding that if the petrol prices go up in international market the prices here will go up too, if the prices go down, the same will be here.

“We are not maintaining the price, the market does it. The most important is for the market to decide the price and we are in such situation. The more players appear in the market, the more the level of competitiveness will raise,” he stressed.

Asked whether new players are expected to appear in the market, the minister said currently discussions are being held with foreign investors.

“We have unused opportunities, we will have new players, I do not see any restrictions for it. We have established an open market and everyone knows about it,” the minister said.
