OSCE promised to help Armenian government to return public means to the state: Pashinyan
Fight against corruption is very important regarding establishment of rule of law in the country, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated today, in response to the question of one of the members of Council of Europe Foreign Relations Committee.
“A number of criminal cases have been filed against former officials. The revelations will continue and the courts are to decide their future fate. In this regard it is very important to ensure independence of the courts,” Pashinyan said.
He said from the very beginning the new government exerted efforts to end the pressures on decisions of courts.
“But I am not convinced that the former authorities or if you want the oligarchy cannot use their levers and tools to influence the decision of courts,” he said, adding that the new authorities are not going to exert any pressure on the courts. “Our goal is to make the judicial system really independent,” Pashinyan said.
He stressed that all the financial means robbed from the state must be returned.
“We hope that we will succeed in starting effective cooperation with the EU to reach this goal. The promise of the OSCE to help Armenia’s government to return public means to the state is extremely important for us,” the PM said.
