Appointment of CSTO secretary general without Armenia’s consent excluded: defense minister
Appointment of CSTO secretary general without Armenia’s consent is excluded, Armenian defense minister Davit Tonoyan told the reporters today.
In response to the comment that days ago candidate of Belarus Stanislav Zas stated that CSTO Charter allows making decisions with limited staff, Tonoyan said, “I exclude such possibility. The appointment of the CSTO secretary general is not a secondary decision. This is the issue of election of secretary general of the strategic alliance. How can secretary general be appointed without any member of the alliance? The Charter does not allow such thing. Charter allows another thing but not in the issue of election of secretary general,” Tonoyan said.
He said currently the Foreign Ministry is carrying out corresponding works in the CSTO toward solution of the issue.
