Unprecedented situation in Armenia-EU relations: Armenia’s PM
There is an unprecedented situation in Armenia-EU relations when the EU does not have any question to Armenia regarding the democratic condition in the country, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the NA today.
“There is no doubt over the aim of the Armenian government to bring the democratic changes till the end. The EU high ranking officials are ready to assist our changes, including financially,” Pashinyan noted.
He stressed that in regard to financial assistance not only content discussions are held but also discussions over infrastructural reforms which suppose capital investments.
Pashinyan stressed that the EU expresses readiness to provide financial assistance for development of infrastructures but they cannot fully finance all the projects.
“They say they may provide grants but Armenia must make investments too. We have too sources – increase of state incomes to the level of being able to make such investments and secondly, involve loans for capital expenses,” the PM said, adding that the both options are difficult to bring into life.
“For instance in case of the second we have state debt-GDP certain legislative restrictions. We must discuss and make political decisions on how prior is the development of infrastructures, capital expenses and whether we agree to the change of the borderline of the burden of the state debt to get more concrete and wider opportunities of cooperation with our partners,” Pashinyan said.
